Last night's event went off terrifically! $300 was raised for Silver Lake Nature Center and A Woman's Place, plus the generous donations of nonperishable goods for the shelter.

First off, I tip my hat (or my peacock feathers) to Jaz — for arranging pretty much the whole thing and making it a reality. Her tireless energy made this event a standout one. If you had a good time last night, let her feel the love!

Another big thank you to CJ, who stepped in almost at the last minute to work as our door person. She did a terriffic job, and we love ya!

Also have to thank Pat and Marianne for helping clean up afterwards, but not a lot was needed to be done. Our guests did a great job of policing themselves!

A big zaghareet for the drummers and musicians who played during the open floor dance. Live music is a wonderful thing.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came and to those who performed — Mahira Tribe, Alexia, Mahnia, Tranceformation, Devi'ance, Tribal Spirit, Hipnosis, The Archana Dance Academy ... you were all inspirational and magical.

And lots of love to my husband Thom, who was a great emcee and kept the dance floor going as well. DJ Zophiel rocked the house last night!

  • I was a guest at the hafla last night and had a fantastic time! What a great lineup (and variety) of performances! I also had a friend with me who is new to bellydance and she was blown away - I couldn't have asked for a better "first hafla" for her to attend. Great job Jaz and Ak'Ana!
    • Thanks for hosting an awesome party! Everyone looked awesome, it was great to see everyone dance. Thanks for including me!
      • I am glad that everyone had such a good time!!
Thank you to EVERYONE: the Beautiful & talented dancers, CJ for jumping in to handle the door - you were a life saver!!!, all of our vendors with their lovely wares, all of our friends/family that came out to show their support (to the dancers and the charities...not to mention the buffet table!), Thom for a remarkable job of keeping the dance floor movin', Christi for saying, " a holiday hafla sounds like a great idea" and just letting me run with it, and to Denise for Taping the whole shebang!
I cant forget Mom and The Academy!

If I forgot anyone here - trust me, your deeds did not go overlooked - I am just thoroughly fried!

We wish you all a fantastic holiday and 2007; and we look forward to seeing you for our next scheduled event
The Ultimate Ghawazi Workshop + Hafla - June 2, 2007
...but hopefully we see ya sooner than that!!

        Ak'Ana HEARTS yous guys!!!
  • We had such a great time! It's quite a different experience to be among the performers. Besides being scared to death...it was really cool! After we performed, we were all so relieved. Keli said "I wish I had felt like this before we performed, now I wish I could dance some more!". Next time won't be as scary.

Christiane and Jaz, we seriously drew our confidence from you. Your constant support and "don't worry about it, you can do it" attitude are just amazing! We love you!!
