I hate to start off the day with bad news.
::Sigh::
I got an email this morning from Bethany Walters daughter, Brandy...
One of our dear dance sisters has passed.
To Bethany, all she wanted was to dance - It gave her inner strength and
meant everything to her! Sadly, she struggled long and hard with her health which unfortunately held her dancing back. It was an uphill battle that she was about to overcome.
She was looking forward to her first performances in May at the Smithville Belly Jam as well as at Hipnosis' Belly Jam. And she was one of the biggest supporters of the east coast bellydance commnity. Always coming to Shows, Haflas and always ready to give a hand for
Hipnosis (PA), Ak-Ana (PA), Chovexani (NYC) and Coveilance Dance Project (NJ).
She was a dear woman and will be greatly missed.
I am awaiting word on services.
In the meantime, you may contact Brandy Walters:

Re: Sad news in the East Coast Bellydance Community (Xpost)
Fri, March 31, 2006 - 8:29 AMOMG! Jaz I am completely shocked and just don't know what to say except I am deeply saddened. I had worked with her to get a web site up because she was anxious to advertise and sell her work and found her to be a very sweet individual. I was moved as well with her blog about an illness she suffered with. Please give regards to her daughter.
I think this needs to be posted up in NETribal as well because some other ladies there might want to know.

Re: Sad news in the East Coast Bellydance Community (Xpost)
Fri, March 31, 2006 - 11:55 AMI am in a state of shock with this news.
We had joked that between the two of us our medical issues would keep us both in Level 1 class together for a very long time. We had decided that the next time we both made it to class on the same night we would go out of coffee and hang out. I was looking forward to seeing her performance at the Belly Jam. Just shock.
I will be sending my condolences to Brandy. Thank you letting us know. -

Fri, March 31, 2006 - 2:06 PMI'm also totally floored. I never would have seen this coming. I emailed her maybe 3 days ago about coming to next month's Shadows of the Harem. What a sweet and wonderful woman...she always wanted to participate in what we were doing.
I wish her family the best...how heartbreaking. -

Re: Sad news in the East Coast Bellydance Community (Xpost)
Fri, March 31, 2006 - 3:41 PMI didn't get to read Jaz's email until later in the day and was completely shocked. More so, since Beth and I have been chatting back and forth, since Raqs Gothique via email, and I still have her last in my inbox (and now how can I ever delete that).
Some of the last thoughts she shared with me were how happy she was at that event on her date. She really was looking radiant that night; really relaxed and comfortable. She was also rather *secretly* amused at taking her date to his first BD-Goth Event.
She also was very happy attending Christi's classes on Sunday nights. Since she was unable to keep to a strict class session, she was really pleased with the mixed level class, and felt that she was getting some good technique grounding.
On a personal level, her advice was valuable to me in dealing with newly developed migraines - since she had dealt with this extremely debilitating condition, she was able to give me the information I needed prior to consulting with the doctor.
I can't say that I knew Beth well - we never got to spend enough time for that. But I can say that I'm sad that I'll never get to know her better.

Re: Sad news in the East Coast Bellydance Community (Xpost)
Fri, March 31, 2006 - 5:47 PMShe was a sweet and thoughtful woman.
She always tried her hardest, and she was succeeding.
If anyone would like to come to Silver Lake Nature Center in Bristol this Sunday evening, I would like to have a giant sister circle in her honor.
I am also going to make a donation in her name to Silver Lake. -
